CHORUS. IV. Mapping the Spatially Inhomogeneous Cosmic Reionization with Subaru HSC

چکیده

Abstract Spatial inhomogeneity is one of the important features for understanding reionization process; however, it has not yet been fully quantified. To map this inhomogeneous distribution, we simultaneously detect Ly α emitters (LAEs) and Lyman-break galaxies (LBGs) at z ∼ 6.6 from Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam large-area (∼1.5 deg 2 = 34,000 cMpc ) deep survey. We estimate neutral fraction, x HI , observed number density ratio LAEs to LBGs, n (LAE)/ (LBG), using numerical radiative transfer simulations, in which model are selected satisfy selection function. While average within field view found be < 0.4, consistent with previous studies, variation (LBG) every 140 pMpc area as large a factor 3. This may suggest spatially topology reionization, but also leaves open possibility that based on inherent large-scale structure galaxy distribution. Based difficult distinguish between two current find high-LAE-density region more numerous high EW 0 supporting fact or less driven by though statistical significance high.

Inhomogeneous Reionization and the Polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background.

In a universe with inhomogeneous reionization, the ionized patches create a second-order signal in the cosmic microwave background polarization anisotropy. This signal originates in the coupling of the free-electron fluctuation to the quadruple moment of the temperature anisotropy. We examine the contribution from a simple inhomogeneous reionization model and find that the signal from such a pr...

The Impact of Inhomogeneous Reionization on Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy

It is likely that the reionization of the Universe did not occur homogeneously. Using a model that associates ionized patches with overdense regions, we find that the resulting cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy power spectrum peaks at angular scales corresponding to the extent of the ionized regions, and has a width that reflects the correlations between them. There is considerable u...

The Inhomogeneous Background of H2 Dissociating Radiation during Cosmic Reionization

The first, self-consistent calculations are presented of the cosmological, H2-dissociating UV background produced during the epoch of reionization by the sources of reionization. Large-scale radiative transfer simulations of reionization trace the impact of all the ionizing starlight on the IGM from all the sources in our simulation volume down to dwarf galaxies of mass ∼ 10 M⊙, identified by v...

Intensity mapping of molecular gas during cosmic reionization

I present a simple calculation of the expected mean CO brightness temperature from the large scale distribution of galaxies during cosmic reionization. The calculation is based on the cosmic star formation rate density required to reionize, and keep ionized, the intergalactic medium, and uses standard relationships between star formation rate, IR luminosity, and CO luminosity derived for star f...

The infancy of cosmic reionization

We consider the early stages of cosmic hydrogen or helium reionization, when ionizing sources were still rare. We show that Poisson fluctuations in the galaxy distribution substantially affected the early bubble size distribution, although galaxy clustering was also an essential factor even at the earliest times. We find that even at high redshifts, a significant fraction of the ionized volume ...
